Narcotics Division

The Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic substance Act 1985 was enacted by Parliament to consolidate and amend the Law relating to Narcotic drugs and to make stringent provisions for the control and regulating of Narcotic drugs and Psychotropic substances. The Act was subsequently amended in 1989, which came into force on 29thMay, 1989. Considering the great importance attached to the control of illicit drug traffic and drug abuse at National and International level and to cope with the large increase of the cases in our State, a separate Narcotic Division was sanctioned in all the three Laboratories under this department. During the year 2017-18 a total of 2248 cases comprising 3658 articles were examined in this division.
